Bucks County and Northeast Philadelphia. These experts lead Frankford's Sports Medicine Team, a new service with a multidisciplinary
approach, providing both comprehensive clinical care and education to athletes in any sport at any level - from the professional
to the weekend warrior.
The Sports Medicine Team is also available to conduct athletic performance evaluation and training. In this consulting role,
the team can help athletes and athletic directors devise training and exercise programs, while also providing clinical diagnosis
and evaluation.
Frankford's Sports Medicine Team is managed in part by an Advisory Council comprised of Frankford's physicians, exercise physiologists
and sports psychologists. The Council seeks feedback from area athletic directors and athletes to adjust and further grow
both the clinical and educational components of the Sports Medicine Team.
Clinical and Educational Components of Frankford’s Sports Medicine Team Include:
Sports Education Program
In addition to high-quality clinical care, Frankford's Sports Medicine Team offers a variety of sports education programs
to coaches and athletic trainers from local school districts and community organizations, prior to the start of each sporting
season. Conducted by exercise physiologists, emergency medical technicians and orthopods, these programs cover such topics
as exercise and nutrition, sports safety, sports-related injuries and sports psychology.
Pre-Season Clinics for Players and Coaches
As part of its educational component, Frankford's Sports Medicine Team provides pre-season clinics for players, coaches and
athletic directors for a number of sports. The clinics include pre-season physicals, nutrition and exercise counseling for
each individual sport. Athletes are also given access to a sports psychologist, who can discuss the mental and motivational
side of competitive sports.
On-Site Presence At Sporting Events
Members of Frankford's Sports Medicine Team, including emergency medical technicians, athletic trainers and physicians, have
the resources to provide services on-site at local school or community-based sporting events.
Athletic Performance Evaluation and Consultation
The Sports Medicine Team is also available to conduct athletic performance evaluation and training. In this consulting role,
the team can help athletes and athletic directors devise training and exercise programs, while also providing clinical diagnosis
and evaluation. Frankford’s nutrition counselors and sports psychologists also offer athletes individualized, one-on-one assessments
and interventions.
