Laura Banngert, RNC, a staff nurse on 3 South at the Bucks Campus, has been awarded Level III recognition.  She serves as a preceptor to new nurses on her unit. Ms. Banngert has developed a poster on congestive heart failure (CHF), which she presented to the staff on 3 South.  The poster served as the basis for a patient-education pamphlet on the subject.  She also created a poster that educated staff on documentation requirements.  In addition, she participated in the Community Fair, which educated the community on maintaining a healthy life style.

Linda Benincasa, RN, a float nurse at Torresdale Campus, has been awarded Level III recognition.  She serves on the Staff Education Committee, through which she assists in educating her peers.  Ms. Benincasa is also involved in the upgrade of the Sunrise Clinical Manager.  In addition, she developed a poster for educating the staff on diabetes and insulin.

Colleen Curran, RN, BSN, a staff nurse in the Observation Unit at Torresdale Campus, has also been recognized.  As a member of the Hand Hygiene Task Force, she actively monitors hand-hygiene compliance.  Ms. Curran serves as a preceptor in the Observation Unit.  She also participates in the PI (Performance Improvement) Council, reviewing PI data and monthly unit reports cards to improve patient outcomes.  In addition, she has assisted in the Falls Task Force, collecting data that may help to decrease the number of falls at Frankford Hospital.

Kimberly Dalessio, RN, BSN, CMSRN, from 2B at the Torresdale Campus has achieved Level IV recognition.  She is active in the education of the community and of fellow healthcare team members.  Ms. Dalessio has completed presentations on pain management, hand washing, infection prevention, blood-pressure care, and glucose screenings, as well on the effects of noise on patient recovery.

Lorriane DeLeo, RNC, BSN, a staff nurse on 4B Telemetry Unit at Torresdale campus, has been awarded Level III recognition.  She is an active member of the Education Committee, which informs and educates staff on new products, policies, and procedures.  Ms. DeLeo also actively participates on the Wound Care Committee, educating staff on improvement of patient wound care and compliance to wound-care standards.  She participated in the Community Fair, presenting a poster on atrial fibrillation and congestive heart failure.

Kimberly Doman, RNC, a staff nurse on 5 East at Frankford Campus, was awarded Level III recognition.  She acts as a preceptor to new staff RN’s coming to 5 East, to orient, and ease transition of, these nurses to the profession of nursing.  Ms. Doman is also a member of the Medication Safety Sub Committee.

Erin Donohue, RN, who serves as the lead RN on 2 North on the Bucks Campus, has received Level II recognition.  She is a co-chair for the CPIM Council.  Ms. Donohue participated in the Community Fair and has helped with educating staff on the prevention of CA-MRSA (community-associated methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus) cross contamination.

Shari Glaskin, RN, BSN, CCRN, works in the cardiac electrophysiology laboratory and is the recipient of Level IV recognition. She is active in precepting new staff and educating her peers on new technology used in the EP lab.  Ms. Glaskin is also involved with the community through helping to facilitate Frankford’s ICD (implantable cardiac defibrillator) Support Group and through assisting with education at the Community Fair.

Pamela Hueber, RNC, a staff nurse on 2A Telemetry unit at Torresdale Campus, has been awarded Level III recognition.  She developed and presented a poster on coronary artery disease (CAD) that contained information on diagnosis, risk factors, and treatment.  Ms. Hueber acts as a preceptor to new staff and continues to act as a resource after orientation.  She is an active member of the Professional Development and Resource Council, which addresses staff recruitment, retention, professionalism, education, and recognition.

Sandy Izzi, RN, BC, BSN, a staff float nurse, received Level III recognition.  She is a member of the Hand Hygiene Task Force and participates in compliance monitoring and education to prevent infection, decrease patient lengths of stay, decrease costs, and improve patient satisfaction. Ms. Izzi is also a member of the Staff Education Committee, which informs and educates staff on new products, policies, and procedures.  In addition, she developed an educational poster on diabetes and related treatments.

Diana Jones, RNC, a staff nurse on 2B at the Torresdale Campus, has received Level III recognition.  She serves as preceptor for new staff members.  Ms. Jones also visited Upper Moreland Primary School to show the importance of hand washing in preventing the spread of infections in the community.

Jennifer Kendrick, RNC, is a staff nurse in the Observation Unit at Torresdale Campus.  She was awarded Level III recognition.  Ms. Kendrick serves as a preceptor for new nurses in this unit.  She developed a poster educating her peers on the subject of supraventricular tachycardia.  She is also on active member of the Falls Task Force and has assisted in research-data collection.

Wendy Kwasniak RN, BSN, CCRN, a staff nurse on the Administrative Float Team at Torresdale Campus, was awarded Level III recognition.  She is a member of the Hands Hygiene Committee, which meets monthly to discuss ways to encourage compliance with hand-hygiene policy, set up mandatory hand-hygiene practices, and track nosocomial infection.  Ms. Kwasniak is also a member of the Professional Development and Resource Council, which addresses staff recruitment, retention, professionalism, education, and recognition.

Janet Lynch, RN, CEN, who currently works in the Emergency Room at the Torresdale Campus, has been awarded Level III recognition.  She is a member of the ENA (Emergency Nurses Association) Pennsylvania State Board of Directors.  Ms. Lynch acts as a preceptor to orient newly hired RNs to the ER.  She also performed discharge, follow-up phone calls to improve patient satisfaction.

Geri McWilliams, RN, BSN, CCRN, a perioperative nurse at the Torresdale Campus, has achieved Level IV recognition. She is co-chair of the CPIM Council and a member of the Co-Coordinating Council.  As a member of the Patient Education Subcommittee, Ms. McWilliams has helped to create a custom health sheet for patients cared for in the electrophysiology laboratory, and has revised patient-education handouts.  As a member of the Hand Hygiene Task Force, she monitors hand hygiene on nursing units.

Diane Olivieri, RN, serves as the lead RN on 5 East and was awarded Level III recognition.  She takes an active role on the Wound Care Committee, educating staff on preventing and intervening with pressure ulcers. Ms. Olivieri has participated on the Hand Hygiene Task Force, reinforcing and providing education around the importance of hand hygiene.  She also serves as a nurse preceptor for her unit.

Carey Pietropoli, RN, CEN, as a staff nurse in the Emergency Room at the Torresdale Campus, has achieved Level II recognition.  She has focused on community outreach. Her projects increased community knowledge of health information and personal healthcare.  As part of this innovative initiative, for example, patients receive a copy of their most recent EKG to keep with them.  Ms. Pietropoli has participated in the community fair and recently completed training as a SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) nurse.

Stacy Jennifer Prociuk, RN, BSN, CCRN, a staff nurse in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Torresdale Campus, has been awarded Level IV recognition.  She is a preceptor to new RNs in the cath lab, and she assisted in the hospitalwide, performance-improvement project in the perioperative chart audit.  Ms. Prociuk developed a poster presentation to educate the nursing staff on IABPs (intraortic balloon pumps), as well as a poster to educate the public on the new Chest Pain Center for the Community Fair.

Jennifer Puls, RN, who works in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Bucks Campus, has achieved Level II recognition.  She participated in a CAN education presentation to reinforce basic care skills among nurses.  Ms. Puls is a preceptor to new staff nurses and an active member of the Wound Care Committee.

Susan T. Wajda, RN, BSN, PCCN, from 4 East on the Frankford campus has achieved Level IV recognition.  She is active on the Resource and Professional Development Committee, and the Clinical Practice and Medication Safety Committee.  Ms. Wajda provided flu shots to the community as a health-promotion intervention.  She also precepts and mentors new employees.

Joanne Trivelis, RN, BSN, OCN, a staff nurse in the Observation Unit at the Torresdale Campus, has received Level IV recognition. She serves as an active preceptor to new staff, and she participates on PI (Performance Improvement) Council, educating the staff on ongoing initiatives.

Dawn Ward, BSN, RNC, a staff nurse on 4 East at the Frankford Campus, has been awarded Level lV recognition.  She assisted her peers by guiding them through the Sunrise XA upgrade.  Ms. Ward also serves as the Nurse-Excellence Champion for 5 East and participates in projects that benefit the community.  She is a member of the Hand Hygiene Task Force and also serves as a preceptor and resource for new staff members.
