Frankford Health Care System Elects New Board Chairman

John Mitkus was recently elected Chairman of Frankford Health Care System's Board of Directors. For at least the next two years, Mr. Mitkus will lend his excellent leadership abilities to help guide Frankford toward continued excellence and growth.

Mr. Mitkus began his relationship with the Frankford Health Care System in 1978 when he was appointed to the Board of Directors. Since that time, he has served on many of the Board's Committees including Audit and Regulatory, Bylaws, Finance, Professional, and Trustee Development. He was also appointed Chairman of the Long Range Strategic Planning Committee in 2001 and Chair of FHCS Physician Services in 2003. During the last four years, he has served as Vice Chairman of the Frankford Health Care System Board. In addition to his roles at Frankford, Mr. Mitkus was appointed to the Jefferson Health System (JHS) Board of Trustees in 2000 and currently serves on its Executive, Finance and Compensation Committees.

When he is not devoting time to fulfilling Frankford's mission, Mr. Mitkus serves as Senior Vice President at GVA Smith Mack, a commercial real estate agency. He has 23 years of experience in commercial real estate, land sales and purchases, real estate consulting, and landlord/tenant office lease representation. He also served for 17 years with the Philadelphia City Planning Commission and for seven of those years held the title of Executive Director.
