NBC 10 News Reporter Sheela Allen-Stephens kicked off the 4th Annual Women’s Health Day at Frankford Hospital - Torresdale
on June 17, 2000. Allen-Stephens delivered the event's keynote speech on her personal experience with heart disease to over
200 Philadelphia area women. Her presentation entitled, “Heartfelt Memories,” explained her personal experience of having
a heart attack, her treatment and recovery and the lifestyle changes she has made since that time. She also used humor to
explain how not to "sweat the small stuff", reduce stress and live healthier.
In addition to Allen-Stephens' presentation, the day's events included free blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol screenings,
chair massages and stress assessments. Physicians and other healthcare professionals will also lead discussions on women-related
health issues including colon cancer, hormone replacement therapy, breast cancer, dieting and cosmetic surgery options.
