The Heart Center at Torresdale Opens

Ribbon-cutting ceremony marks opening of 30,000-square-foot, leading-edge,
comprehensive cardiac center  

Frankford Hospital’s board of directors, administrators, physicians. and staff formally
dedicated the new $20 million Heart Center at Torresdale with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 30, 2007.  Hospital staff and employees also had a chance to tour the facility on November 29.  The 30,000-square-foot, leading-edge center offers comprehensive cardiac care, including interventional cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, and electrophysiology services
– all under one roof, in a next-generation, patient-and-family-friendly facility. 

 
Cardiothoracic (CT) Operating Room

Highlights of the center include:

  • three cardiac-catheterization laboratories, two electrophysiology laboratories, and two cardiothoracic operating rooms, all equipped with the latest surgical and imaging technology;

  • seven private cardiac-care unit (CCU) rooms with homelike conveniences for patients and families including sofa beds, drop-leaf tables, and high-definition televisions;

  • 14 preoperative/recovery/holding beds;

  • and live video feeds of surgical cases to a multifunction conference room for training, education, and family viewing.

Since 1998, Frankford Hospital’s experienced cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and nursing
staff have offered Northeast Philadelphia and Lower Bucks County communities a full continuum of cardiac care at Torresdale.  In the past 10 years, patient demand for cardiac care at the hospital has grown considerably.  Technology has also kept pace as new interventional, surgical, and electrophysiology procedures have been introduced.  The new Heart Center at Torresdale provides a long-term solution to effectively continue to meet patients’ cardiac needs with the latest technology available.  The Heart Center and its services were recently highlighted in the
Philadelphia Business Journal and the Northeast Times.
