Joint Replacement Program
Special program of education & service for patients undergoing joint replacement at Aria

The program begins in the physician’s office when the staff meets with the patients, explains the care process, discusses any initial questions, and distributes the detailed patient-education manuals, “Kneed to Know,” for total knee replacement, and “What’s Hip to Know,” for total hip replacement. This literature provides extensive education to patients that helps guide them through their joint replacement experience. As part of this preparation, the staff also invites patients to attend an educational session led by an Orthopedic Clinical Nurse Specialist.

When patients come to Aria on the day of joint replacement surgery, Aria’s Surgical Service Ambassador meets them at valet parking. The Ambassador greets the patients and their families as they enter the facility and maintains communication between patient families and the procedural areas.

In addition, as part of Aria’s ongoing pursuit of excellence, the program’s orthopedic-trained registered nurses (RNs) and certified nursing assistants care for all joint replacement patients — under medical direction of the program’s orthopedists. The patients also participate in physical therapy twice per day and occupational therapy daily.
