Jo-Ann Labenz - Rectal Cancer Survivor
Three years ago, Northeast Philadelphia resident Jo-Ann Labenz, 60, was diagnosed with rectal cancer. With the help of Frankford
Hospitals’ Cancer Program and colon/rectal surgeon Robin Rosenberg, MD, Jo-Ann is cancer free. Today, Jo-Ann and her husband
enjoy time at home with their children and grandchildren, as well as cruising their boat along the New Jersey shore. Traveling
is also one of Jo-Ann’s true passions. She recently returned from a trip to Australia and is planning an upcoming trip to
New Zealand and plans to cruise the Chesapeake Bay this summer.
Suzanne Pine - Breast Cancer Survivor
In January 2000, Northeast Philadelphia resident Suzanne Pine, 43, learned that she had breast cancer. With the caring support
and professional medical management of Frankford medical oncologist Allen Lord Terzian, MD, Sue is now a breast cancer survivor.
Executive Vice President of the longest established Association Management Company (1886) in the country, Sue aggressively
pursues a full-time career, a schedule she never wavered from even during her cancer treatment. Aided by the support of her
family, friends, co-workers and her inner strength and survivor mentality, Sue continues to look toward the future with hope
and makes it a point to live life to its fullest each day.
Robert Ramsey - Testicular Cancer Survivor
Diagnosed with testicular cancer at 28 years old, Bensalem, Pa., resident Robert Ramsey, now 37, turned to Frankford’s Cancer
Program and urologist Jay Handler, MD, for treatment. With their medical management and support, today Robert is a 10-year
cancer survivor. Since his treatment, Robert and his wife have had two children, a daughter, 6, and a son, 3. Robert enjoys
fatherhood and has passed along his passion for soccer to his daughter. He looks forward to seeing his son on the soccer field
soon as well. Robert believes that having a second chance at life has given him an even greater appreciation of each moment
spent with the family and friends that he cherishes.
Frankford Hospitals would like to express a sincere thanks to Jo-Ann, Sue and Robert for sharing their stories with us this
evening. They are true heroes who we honor for their courage, strength and inspiration.
